and here is the second last leg of the trip i'm going to blog. i know some of us in the group are still jet-lagging/sleepless/having severe post-trip depression...europe has left a pretty deep impression on us, especially when we painstakingly planned everything by ourselves. enjoying the fruits of our labour is prolly the best thing that happened to us this past month.
10th-12th june, bochum/freiburg
only reached 'jace-burg'/bochum at 6am on a sunday morning. jace had a bad night on the train (awww sorry sweetie) so i figured she didn't get enough sleep too. poor thing. however, we still decided to go to hattingen all the same since we only have less than 2 days left in bochum. jace loves us! hehe :p
i really love the way the old town looks. a nice cathedral, a lone castle and medieval village houses. way cool (:
we saw 3 deers in the backyard of a house! how nice (: we also got lost in a forest, and we had to climb down slippery soil slopes before reaching the train tracks. with so much fresh green weed/grass growing in between the tracks, we figured the track was no more in use and safe for walking. fortunately it led us out of the forest! :) we ended up at a bus stop and took the nearest bus to the music museum, which really looked like a pretty teeny weeny castle in the past. (see below, anti-clockwise)
the day ended with us having a pseudo picnic with steffanie and melina in the comfort of jace's very own kitchen! lol. it was really funny cos the mats were all laid out in the kitchen and we were sitting on the floor instead of at the table. no thanks to the weather forecast that there was going to be a storm looming over the lake near rhur-universitat :( if not, we would prolly have been lying down beside the lake.***
had the best ice cream in germany ever at Citypoint at the bochum rathaus station! casa nova is a really good ice cream parlor. and guess what....only 0.70 euros for a big scoop of gelato! the mango one i had was OUTRAGEOUSLY CRAZILY AWESOME. ahh... how i miss it!
we left for freiburg in the night, took the CNL. very coooool. they have dome-shaped like seats which can slide down for comfort. i regret not taking vacant seats that face each other...if i did, i could have just slid both down to form a bed and not risk having a bad neck =/sadly, we didn't have time to visit the blackforest. the blackforest would be so pretty in mid-spring or autumn! prolly on the next trip back to europe.
